Geoffrey Hunt and Associates, a technology design and project management company, approached SEACAMS to provide information about the environmental conditions found off the North Wales coast to aid with the development of a marine renewable energy device. They wanted to know more about the sort of conditions that may be experienced in several specified locations. Following a discussion about their requirements SEACAMS and LCRI (Low Carbon Research Institute) provided reports describing tidal flows, wave climate, seabed type and depth in those regions of interest. The reports used information from our sophisticated hydrodynamic numerical models and observations to provide statistics on the conditions present. This information will be used by the developer to inform their design process, now having knowledge of the size of the tidal currents and waves that are found off North Wales.
